Mishima technique Workshop

Sign up for a laid back 60 to 90 minutes in person workshop in my garage (Corvallis, Oregon) where you will practice the Mishima/inlay technique using colored slip and carving.  This technique can be used to decorate any pieces made out of clay, including wheelthrown pieces.

Description

Who should sign up? Intended for people who already have some ceramic experience and want to practice new techniques.   You’re welcome to join as a  beginner but you won’t make anything out of clay, just decorate it.

This series of workshops will cover various decorative techniques using colored and plain slip (liquid clay).

What to bring: Everything is included. A couple of test tiles will be prepared for you to practice on as well as all tools and colored porcelain slip. If you want, you can also bring a leather hard piece (no bisque!) you want to decorate. Test tiles will be fired in my kiln and you can pick them up within two to three weeks. Your piece can be fired too depending on size (cone 6 or cone 10 clay only).

Tools will be provided but if you have some I encourage you to bring them, especially carving tools for this workshop.

You will receive more info and directions by email before the class. Maximum of four people in the class.

If only one or two people are signed up, the class might get cancelled with a full refund. If the class is full but you want to join the waiting list, send me an email. If there is enough demand I will schedule another class. Please contact me if you have any questions.
