All day Slipcasting with colored slip Workshop

Sign up for an all day workshop (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon) in my garage in Corvallis, Oregon to learn the basics of slipcasting technique with colored slip.

Description

Is it for you?  Beginner friendly. Slipcasting is quite different from other ceramic techniques, so unless you have some experience with slipcasting, previous experience with clay will not help that much, unless you like carving.

What to bring: Everything is included. You will get access to several different porcelain colored slip to choose from for your piece. After a demo of how to make each pattern, you will choose the pattern you want to create (layered, marbled or staggered with a few variations including carving and added shapes), you will choose a plaster mold among a selected range and the combination of colors you want to use for your piece. Then you will create your piece with the help of the teacher. After some drying time, you will take the piece off the mold, clean it up and carve it if you wish.   Your piece will be clear glazed (on not, if you prefer) and fired in my kiln.  It will take two to three weeks before you can get your piece back.

Tools will be provided but if you have some you like, I encourage you to bring them.

You will receive more info and directions by email before the class. Maximum of four people in the class.

If only one or two people are signed up, the class might get cancelled with a full refund. If the class is full but you want to join the waiting list, send me an email. If there is enough demand I will schedule another class. Please contact me if you have any questions.
