Sign up for a laid back 60 to 90 minutes workshop in my garage (Corvallis, Oregon) where you will practice a technique using sodium silicate to create a pinch pot with a cracked surface effect. This technique can be used to decorate any pieces made out of clay, including wheelthrown pieces.
Description
Who should sign up? Class designed for people who already have some ceramic experience and want to practice new techniques but this class is especially good for beginners as we will create a piece (a pinch pot) using wet clay.
This series of workshops will cover various decorative techniques using colored and plain slip (liquid clay).
What to bring: Everything is included. You will get a lump of wet clay to turn into a pinch pot and then learn how to put a cracked effect on the piece using sodium silicate. All tools, porcelain slip and more included. All pieces will be fired in my kiln and you can pick them up within two to three weeks. For this workshop, you cannot bring your personal piece to decorate, as we start from wet clay.
Tools will be provided but if you have some you like, I encourage you to bring them.
You will receive more info and directions by email before the class. Maximum of four people in the class.
If only one or two people are signed up, the class might get cancelled with a full refund. If the class is full but you want to join the waiting list, send me an email. If there is enough demand I will schedule another class. Please contact me if you have any questions.
